New Year's Message to Myself

Published on 1 January 2026 at 20:05

In the middle of journaling and working on another post, my journal slipped from my hands and fell open to the very first page.

It felt like a full-circle moment.

Over time, I’ve been growing both spiritually and internally. With that growth, I’ve made a conscious effort to learn, understand, and integrate concepts of humanity, spirituality, numerology, and symbolism. I want to be clear about something before continuing: my pursuit of this knowledge comes from a desire to better understand myself. My greatest pursuit in life has always been peace—calmness. Yet my biggest challenge has been understanding what peace truly means for me. Not peace as defined by others. Not peace shaped by societal expectations, family, or friends—but peace as it exists within my own truth.

I believe much of the suffering we experience is not always caused by someone else’s intentions, but rather by the consequences of ignoring or suppressing our intuition. The world we live in draws our attention outward—toward what we can see—while often neglecting what we can feel internally. That’s where spirituality enters my life. It serves as a bridge between my inner world and the reality I experience externally.

For me, peace means understanding what brings me joy, what motivates me, what angers me, and why. But beyond that, peace also involves exploring faith, purpose, and hope. These are concepts we often understand on the surface, yet rarely examine deeply enough to recognize how they influence the way we respond to the world.

My goal is simple: to master myself. To use what I learn to keep moving forward in ways that bring peace, passion, and prosperity. I call these My Three P’s—my personal pursuit of happiness. Yours may look different, and that doesn’t make either set right or wrong. They are simply yours, just as mine are mine. None outweigh the other, but understanding one another’s “three” helps clarify how much work true alignment really requires.

All of this led me to realize that my purpose is to conquer myself while learning how to navigate the external world in ways that feel right to me. That balance keeps me grounded when life throws curveballs. It equips me to enjoy the highs and endure the lows with more grace.

As part of this journey, I’ve been learning more about numerology. Whether we openly acknowledge it or not, we all have some spiritual connection to numbers. We celebrate birthdays—the day we were created for some divine reason or purpose. We play the lottery, trusting chance, alignment, and possibility. Some people fear certain numbers; others hold them sacred. Numbers shape our reality. They shape how we understand time, structure our work, and measure relationships. They even play a role in religion.

Fun fact: angel numbers were not always called “angel numbers.” People believed numbers carried spiritual meaning long before the Church existed. As the Church grew, it retained some number symbolism but discouraged personal interpretations, favoring official doctrine instead. The term “angel numbers” emerged much later as a modern way to describe noticing meaningful numerical patterns in everyday life. Traditionally, numbers were understood as expressions of frequency—and not everyone operates on the same frequency. Alignment, whether in friendships, relationships, or partnerships, happens when frequencies resonate. When they don’t, discernment becomes essential.

Because of this, I’ve begun paying closer attention to numbers and how they help me perceive my reality.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been repeatedly noticing the number 616—waking up at 6:16, seeing it in addresses, pausing shows at exactly 6:16. This didn’t happen once or twice; it occurred consistently over time before I gave it my full attention. When I notice an angel number, I don’t view it as a profound, God-given message. Instead, I pause and check in with myself. What am I thinking? How do I feel in that moment? What’s influencing those emotions?

This practice has become a powerful tool for emotional awareness and regulation. If I’m feeling negatively, I try to understand why and use what I know about my Three P’s to guide myself back to balance. If I’m feeling positive, I take time to acknowledge and honor what—or who—contributed to that feeling. This is also where learning not to operate from ego becomes incredibly valuable.

I view the New Year as a linear reset, though it is not the only one we experience. Nature’s New Year begins in spring, when life is reborn and growth signals the start of a new cycle. The ancient Egyptians celebrated renewal in July, when the Nile’s flooding transformed the land, reflecting a spiritual understanding of time rather than a linear one.

Rather than debating which perspective is right or wrong, I choose to learn from all of them and apply what resonates in ways that benefit my growth. This shift in thinking has helped me become more balanced and attentive to all aspects of myself—mentally, emotionally, and physically.

The journal I was writing in that day was one I bought after closing a chapter on a toxic relationship. It was also the first journal where my voice shifted—both in prayer and as a writer.

That day, I was writing a New Year’s affirmational and motivational prayer, expressing gratitude for my past and hope for my future. When I finished, I accidentally dropped the journal. When I picked it up, it had opened to the very first entry—written on 6/30/25 at 6:16 pm:

"616: associated with personal growth, spiritual development, and creating a sacred space within oneself.

An invitation to focus on self-care, engage in practices that nourish my soul and align with my highest purpose.

Activities: Meditation/Prayer, Healing, Decluttering, Cleansing your living space (All of these was what I wanted to prioritize for myself today).

Wow,

To my ancestors, I thank you for your protection and your guidance. I am not perfect, but I'm truly trying my best. And the more aware I become, the better my choices will be. I just have to stay focused on my purpose. If a person is meant to be in my life, it will happen by proper alignment. One that does not disrupt my flow. Take your time with your life, Jaboris. Yes, time i ticking, but live peacefully! Move with honor. Be confident. Trust yourself.

Aśe"

Now I understand why 616 has been appearing so frequently. It wasn’t random—it was a full-circle moment, a quiet form of encouragement.

I believe it was a reminder from my ancestors that even if I don’t feel complete yet, I’m on the right path. A confirmation as I continue uncovering my soul’s purpose.

I also believe that it's a sign that it’s time for a new journal...

—To more that’s to come,
Cheers
